Stone to flesh help?

I was fighting some beholders when Valygar got turned to granite. I brought him back and healed him. However when i started picking up all his gear from the ground I found an item called Valygars body. What is going on here? Can he be alive and carry his own body? Sounds twilight zonish to me. Also with this unique circumstance have i incurred any long term affects to the character?

Oh yes it has.
It´s probably from the fact that you can kill him to enter the Planar Sphere should you want to. Hence you find his body. If you know enter his house with him in your company he will turn on you, cause his Butler shouted oh my god you have killed my master or something and then he and Vahylagar (still hate that name) attacked me.. That time he stayed dead and the room was rushed with guards and everything.. Really messy, if you have solves this you wont have any trouble, just don´t go around with his body.
