In the middle of Chapter 4 I finally had enough of my mageslayer character. That I couldn't use potions, rings, bracers, necklaces etc. was okay for the beginning, but it became a pain in the ass as longer you play. Especially that in the middle of a battle you have to use another character to get healed was a big problem sometimes. What upset me at last, was when the magic resistance hindered me to get healed by the Longsword +2 drinker.

My new character is a Monk.
Now my Question before I proceed to far only to find out I made the wrong pick again. The monk kicks ass at the beginning, but is he able to go on like that? I know that someone killed a Dragon with one hit, but how fares the monk against creatures like Liches or Beholder? The monk's hand count as + weapons from a certain level, but is it enough to hurt/kill Liches or Beholder? If I remember right, you need at least +4 weapons to hurt/kill Liches.

The Monk is in my opinion the most powerful and certainly one of the most fun to play. (Closely followed on the fun part by a Bard)

Monks kick SERIOUS bottom. Stick with it and enjoy.

The monk PC is like wine, he gets better with age. At level 13, he acquires the deadly quivering palm ability. His AC improves with every 2-3 levels. At level 18 I think, his hands are like +3 weapons. All this means that you have to be patient enough to fully develop his capabilities. And one nice bug in BG2 is that a monk can use the Firecam Armor for better AC.
