At this stage I'll probably hold off on the TV tuner, mainly because I ended up not getting foxtel digital cabled to my room as well (only have one connection in the living room). When I inquired as to the cost of this extra connection it was quite prohibitive. So I'll hold off on the TV tuner, but will get a DVD-RW drive instead, as I'm more likely to watch DVDs in my room than TV. Though the recording stuff sounds interesting...

Would love 19" LCD, but a bit expensive to get a decent one here in OZ, unfortunately... and I mainly game RPGs, TBS and RTS, so I'm not too fussed.

Well, then you have nothing to worry about then, 19'' is a must if you are a fan of good FPS games and the such.

Just a note to say that I ended up getting a new LCD - the Samsung 710N, 12ms response time. Pics below:
Love it love it love it!! Took a while to get used to how bloody bright it is but after a bit of adjusting it's perfect now. I've run the MonitorsDirect dead pixel text and checked it till my eyes started hurting but I couldn't find any. Harks, I'll be coming around to drop off my old 17" CRT to your place sometime soon - maybe tomorrow if you're free. |

In comparison however, LCD and Plasma televisions are a big waste of cash. Considering how long they usually last, and how much you'll be able to get out of them, their dollar/hour viewed ratio is far pricier than CRTs... Especially when you have the CRTs that can do 1080i...
