When I saw that, I thought the same thing, but of course the vulgar word has two "g"s and this dino was named after the location in the Sahara where it was found, precisely the country of Niger (not to be confused with Nigeria). I know you know that, but you're right...somebody's bound to scream about it.

Yes and this is what I hate. It will be someone who is ignorant to the existance of any other country. I am all for justified and educated complaints, but usually it's someone who has no clue but just suspects the word sounds too similiar to the racial slur that they've been told is so bad by the media (even though they prolly dont know any black people).

At my Toastmasters meetings (and everyone else's, too ), one person comes up with a word of the day. The objective is to use that word during the meeting.

For one meeting, I selected the word niggle.

Sure enough, one person in the room (who is an educated person of African-American descent) mentioned the word as being offensive....

I had no response. I didn't know where to go from there that night, and I still don't. "Niggle" has nothing at all to do with other words that can cause you to lose your job, other than a slightly similar pronunciation.

Unfortunately, this dinosaur will likely end up in the same place... misunderstood.

Racism is such a joke it deserves to be mocked and laughed at. Slightly less deserving being made fun of are people who fail to understand simple context, or even take offense at similiar sounding words as in Bungleau's case.
