I find it very hard to belive that the designers would actually
include that in the game. Are you lying by any chance?

Oh Edwin, still the chances that the designers would waste space
on something that hardly anyone would see is very slim. Are you
sure that Keldorn said that or are you just lying?

Actually, there are easter-eggs throughout the whole series, many of which are VERY rare. The gaming company I worked at was full of programers who loved to hide things in the games, many of which could never be found.

BG & BG2 are the settings for the Pantaloon Enigma, and the Vampire's Revenge. BOTH of those took a TON of planning and programing, but will rarely be seen by anyone who does not know HOW to find them. They each would make this one look tiny.

Easter Eggs are an HONORED tradition in the gaming community.

Very good point Rudedawg but still the chances that someone
would posess two items that are not in the game but imported from
another game is very slim. The vampires revenge may have been
a very good secret but the peices of the sword were still found in
the same game.

But the Golden Pantaloons are only in the FIRST game, and are the ONLY item that will be transferred with an imported character, IF he has it in his inventory. They are useless, but IF you have them, they will allow you to find the hidden note regarding the other pantaloons, in the SECOND game (there are two different notes, but you need BOTH pairs to see both notes). And, unlike the Vamp's Revenge, there is no use for them other than to hint that both pairs are required to solve the mystery in the final act (TOB, hopefully)

I'm just pointing out that programmers LOVE to hide stuff like that in the games...

I think you can find the golden pantaloons at the beginning
of bg2 too. What two notes were you talking about anyway. I
hear your point loud and clear about the designers.

How about explaining what the vampires revenge and the golden pantaloon enigma is? (Is it about washing some blokes pants from BG1?
