I don't think Iran dares to kill or torture the soldiers.

I'm sorry. I forgot seeing things from a different perspective isn't allowed. I'll crawl back into my hole and shut up now.

The British Soldiers and Sailors will be released, but Iran is keeping the boats (at least they're going to try) [ 06-23-2004, 10:00 AM: Message edited by: Morgeruat ]

Im just glad they didn't kill the guys. Who cares about "things" its the Men that I considered of the greatest issue. However...will it not be considered an act of piracy if they keep the boats, they were flagged and just because you drift half a mile off course does not necesarilly mean you are subject to the loss of your vessel. Edit: My view point on the vessels may be the difference between Civilized western society and laws vs....more primitive types of government. [ 06-23-2004, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: MagiK ] |

It's just been announced that they have been handed over to the British.
Damn this diplomacy thing. We had a chance to escalate the war and invade Iran here. Why didn't we go gung-ho and send in special forces. The Iranians might have beheaded them (although they have absolutely NO history of doing this). I realise that it was the Iranian military who were holding them but if you read the reports quickly you can be forgiven for mistakenly believing that they were terrorists, and from there you can call them Al Quaida. I suppose the Iranians will blame the blindfolding thing on the grunts on the ground. (Good news though! )

Nice stretch there Donut No Ceegar however. Apples and cumquats. You would first require 14 UN resolutions and 12 years...... |

Oh glad to hear that the Guys have been released unharmed. What happened to the boats? Did the Iranians keep them? |

I understand they are small boats and not Ships. Outboard powered 2 - 4 man crew...Usually used only in brown water ops. However I can tell you that most nations do not take having their property seized very happily. |
