In vietnam, certain free-fire zones were designated for areas heavy in Communist Infiltration, consequently it allowed the US to deploy it's superior firepower. Would this help in destroying insurgents in Fallujah?

When President Nixon took off the gloves and started Linebacker 2, resuming the bombing of the North without most of the restrictions that were in place during the Veitnam war on bombing the North. It brought the North back to the table and a deal was hammered out in a couple of weeks. It wasn't a desire on the part of the North to make nice , it was that the North didn't want to be wiped from the face of the earth that made them resmue talks and work out a deal.

Some reports indicate that 'free fire' is already the case in some places.

Personally, I'm not looking at any comparison to Vietnam. I don't like citing "successes" in a war we lost.

T.L contrary to the popular opinion We did not lose in Vietnam, The leadership of the U.S.A.(Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon 1st term) were playing, they mircomanaged the military, The U.S. military lost zero battles, killed more of the enemy then they had killed, The leadership had silly "RULES" about bombing when and where, the U.S. leadership was scared that the U.S.S.R. would come into the war so they never attacked up north, other then bombing bombed out targets, and a few raids. The U.S. government was in a test of wills not in a WAR.

Well, you must be the only person then who claims that the US didn't lose the Vietnam war. Little hard to admit perhaps ?

Face it, you DID lose the war. The south, whom you were to protect, was overrun by the communists, and the US had to pull out all their troops. How do you call that... a tactical manouvre ?

Retreating is a tactical manouvre. [/QUOTE]Does that mean that the Germans can still capture Stalingrad ? I mean, being on the retreat for almost 60 years is a manouvre i can't quite comprehend.
