No contest, Keldorn's one of the best fighters in the game and his dispel magic ability is awesome! Add to that the Holy Avenger and the guy's great in combat. Valygar's not a bad NPC but he's not one of the greatest in the game.

Valygar is good, I use him with some good long bow, but Keldorn with Carsomyr and gauntlets of dexterity make bigger damage. And Keldorn's abilities dispel magic and true sight are pretty usefull.

Does anyone of you use any pure shooters/archers. I usually only use bows with NPC´s like Imoen & Nalia when they´re out of magic. But back in the days when i played BG1 I equiped at least three of my NPC´s with bows. Is it just me or has the close combat weapons and the mighty spells surpassed the bow as the best weapon?

Might makes right.

Jan is in the Government District selling turnips. When you meet him the guards will be hassling him for not having a permit.

Heh you will be very very pleased by taking Jan me thinks. Nobody has more personality than Minsc or Jan IMHO. If you have never had Jan before you gotta try him just to hear his stories hehe.

Btw another fantastic thing about Keldorn is his true sight ability. I like to have a little redundancy in case something happens to keldorn but its nice to know you got invisibile opponents pretty much covered with him having that ability more than once per day. Considering how often high level mages use shadow door, mislead etc it helps alot!

Archers actually rock, by the end of the game I had the heartseeker bow and was doing 25 + points of damage per hit. I also had boots of haste on meaning no one could catch me and I was dealing out huge damage. I practically beat the game with my archer alone, the rest were used as a distraction to the main event...

Check the Order- it's in the Temple District.

I'd take Keldron over Valgyar if it came down to one or the other...
