Hello everyone. Just got around to buying this wonderful game, and having a great time playing. i have a little problem though. i downloaded a few skins from various places, and believe i installed them correctly:

Created a directory called 'skin'
Places the d/l'ed TGA files there
Renamed them to [cname].TGA and [cname]_face.TGA

Now they work fine in a saved game, but if i try to create a new single or multiplayer game, all the characters are the same and it doesn't recognize my cd. When i delete the skns, everything works fine. What am i doing wrong?

TIA,
Tash

Welcome to the board - you will find hours of your life disappearing if you really get into Darkstone

As for your specific question, I am not sure why any skin file should cause the symptoms you describe unless (and this is a wild guess) somehow they are corrupted. Generally a skin will work or not, and there is no effect outwith the chatacters appearance. I would suggest trying the skins one at a time, and then discarding the ones that cause problems.

I use a couple of my own skins and have never had a problem starting a new game.

P.S. This is a wild thought, and please don't be insulted.....you did unzip the files if they were .zip files before renaming them.......

Have fun

Did you by chance leave all the default skins for the characters in the 'skin' directory - then added you specialized skin? Doing it that way I have had no problems....
