Hey, was curious about the opinions of others about this:

what do you think of using Earth legends inside of AD&D/NWN, such as the sword of Excalibur, the Gae Bulga, and other such mythical devices? Is it appropriate to translate such legends into AD&D for usage, or is it better to keep such things separate from regular fantasy gaming and only to be used in Earth-based fantasy settings?

The whole point to Fantasy is that it is just that, Fantasy. Portals can literally take you any where, so why limit yourself to the Forgotten Realms? After all, there are endless possiblities to what can be done (within the limits set down by the toolset anyway), and no reason to say, "Well, Neverwinter is in the FR campaign, so I'm limited to that". Run with it.

I know I saw a book that had a lot of the legendary (European) items in it for AD&D 2nd Edition or 3rd Edition. Not certain, but I know that one exists. I don't remember if it is the Swords & Sorcery imprint or something done directly by the good people at Wizards Of The Coast.

One person's verrsion of Excalibur, for sake of example. I am still looking for a copy of that book to show you.

And I found the name of the book - Relics & Rituals: Excalibur. It is by the Swords & Sorcery imprint (White Wolf).

A whole list of fictional swords, including quite a few I had never heard of before. I knew of the Kusanagi blade, but only because I watched a program involving the Yamato No Orochi.
