Cloudy's Cafe

Come in, be welcome, be comfortable, be yourself

Welcome to Cloudy's Cafe, a place to have a cup of coffee or a good
darjeeling and the finest in conversation and camaraderie.

The proprietor asks that you follow a few simple guidelines:

this is a real conversation zone, not a role-play zone

[i]* no flaming; if you disagree with a viewpoint expressed by any patron, please do so in a civil manner
* any topic is fair game, but keep posts to the standards that Ziroc has set for the entire forum, please (ie: foul language is not appropriate and things should be suitable for all audiences)
-a side note from Cloudy: I see this as a place for those short
conversations about a new baby or the latest soccer fiasco, not for things that are big enough to warrant their own threads, by all means give those things the space they need and post separately!
* Please, no one word or smiley posts (Ziroc has declared them 'real spam' and the proprietor doesn't want the reputuation of "good spam" to suffer!)
* do feel free to be serious or silly and enjoy the company of others while you are here. By all means POST if you have something to say, even to start another topic , we can handle multiple chats, we're a CAFE!!! But be courteous and don't disrupt a conversation just to disrupt it.

Come on in! The bar is stocked with coffees, teas, juices and waters from around the world. And purple napkins, of course!

The lighting is low, the golden oak counters and tables glow with inviting warmth. Near the window, the lighting is brighter, as comfy, plush leather armchairs wait for those who'd like to read a book while relaxing to music or just lazily watch the world go by.

Cloudy,
your hostess [img]graemlins/ladyhearts.gif[/img]

Agreed. I can't imagine that today will be a cheerful day. I'm purposely not watching any TV today because of the sadness it will bring. I live in NJ and know too many people who lost family and friends in one of the two towers. I won't allow the media to cheapen the mourning that many of us feel.

Still, we must find a way to continue with what we do and don't let the paranoia set in. Too many people have defended our country and our way of life for me to live in fear.

On that somber note, let me encourage each of you to spend the day with your family as much as you can and be grateful for what you have.

Mike

I hear you, Hiram. I'm feeling the same way for the most part. That I don't want to be profoundly sad again, just remember, pray and hope we never see the likes of it again in our lifetimes.

I think I'll post and play tonight, to avoid the hype as well. My fear is that alot of tv stations etc will play up the sorrow to win viewers and ratings.

We just observed our second moment of silence here where I work, for when the planes hit the towers. We'll have another for when the first tower collapsed.

Cloudy, in a somber mood

Hey all <------ doesnt seem right but here it is
It is kind of odd how the weather is the same on this day as it ws last year.
Today when I pulled into work it was wet yet sunny and dark clouds loomed on the horizon, after I got myself settled in the storm hit at just about the same time. Today is going to be a gray rainy day down here in Florida but there will be plenty of bright spot's all around. As I write this there are over 300 people lineing the street of Bayshore in down town Tampa waving flag's to show there support. Standing in the rain they have smiles on there faces and stand proudly as the soldiers drive by on there way to the base.

God Bless them and keep them all safe.

Hey all.

Unlike some, I'm actually following some of the media exposure. I'm trying to avoid most of the hype, if possible, but I am listening to the President's speech, and some of the memorial. I guess that I'm different in that I dont ever want to forget. I honour those that are dead, and my heart bleeds for those that lost loved ones. But my soul still burns to see those responsible brought to justice and punished for their henious attacks.

Nachtrafe - Sad and angry

Never forgot!

It just doesn't seem possible...

So many people dying for nothing, brave, innocent and hardworking men and women all gone, because they happened to be Americans.

Yet somehow America recovers, and uses it's resolve to rise above all the anguish it was put through.

Personally I am impressed with the unity and team work that Americans have displayed over the last year, to stand against their enemies. It's defiance is most admirable.

...the worst part of the events in my opinion was the fact that I could do NOTHING to help those people, except witness the events. The feeling of helplessness that I bore as I watched the events unfolding before my eyes, contemplating how the people of America must be feeling.

I never know how to properly express things in certain situations...now is one of those situations. I wish I could say more and describe how I feel of the events and the people of America but I would probab;ly be expressing someone elses opinion or reminding someone of the events.

I'm not American, but I hope my opinion is regarded with equal importance to everyone elses, as I truly believe that the country and the people of America's strength in all sense of the word is something to be respected.

Not sure if I can say it but- God bless America.

I know, Nacht, I feel the same way/ Damn it, I keep tearing up, for no apparent reason. I keep thinking of my little son, watching the fires on TV yesterday, trying to put them out with his toy firetrucks while we both wept. God bless you all.
