By way of introduction to the GD forum, I'll chime in.
Hayashi is Japanese for 'woods' (as in forest), and my surname ('Ling' in Mandarin hanyu pinyin, the romanised way of writing Chinese) translates to the same. It's a common name I use whenever I need to name the player-character in the games I play. I have others, but Hayashi's my favourite. I'm currently just starting in Chap 3 of BG2, and most of my posts are there.
