Not a bad idea, but you've got some of the classes wrong

Gandalf- Mage
Aragorn- Ranger
Legolas- Fighter
Gimli- Fighter
Frodo- Thief
and..YOU CAN"T FORGET SAM!
Sam- Thief

Thats what I would think they would be.

i prefer to keep it like this then:

Aragorn-Ranger
Legolas-Fighter
Gimli-Fighter
Gandalf- Sorcerer(ihatebuyingscrolls)
Frodo-Thief

But i still need a cleric and need to know which character from the movie you think would be best, and i prefer it be someone that we are not sure of their weapons so the cleric weapons will be alright. i was thinking of boromir but he cant use blades if he a cleric. any suggestions? Thanks

I don't think that there are any Clerics in the movie (none that I have seen)

Er, why would you make Legolas a fighter? If he isn't an archer, I don't know who is

My opinion -
Aragorn - Fighter (Borderline Paladin but not quite...)
Legolas - Archer
Gimli - Fighter (I suppose Barbarian would work if you want, but a Fighter seems slightly more sensible to me)
Gandalf - Sorceror
Frodo - Thief
Sam - Commoner! (Actually, I guess Thief...)

If you want a cleric I would use Elrond(Arwein's father) because as you know they took Frodo to him to be healed.

The Hobbits should be Swashbucklers.

I also could not think of a true cleric besides Elrond, but he was extremly high level at that point, being about 7000 years old at that point with some divinity in his heratige as well. I would use Radagast the Brown as your druid. The only problem with that is he has the morale of Khalid.
