Default I've said it more than once!

Now I have nothing more to say. FB is not safe!

An English hacker has admitted he stole 400 billion virtual poker chips worth somewhere between $285,000 and $12 million in actual dollars from a popular online game, then sold some of them for cash on Facebook.

It doesn't have anything to do with Facebook. The virtual money was stolen off Zynga's server and he got in through the Zynga's website. He just used Facebook to sell the virtual money.

But don't allow third party applications if you're worried.

Or at least don't spend *real* money on online games...

Tons. Zynga games are all over the web not to mention cell phones. He simply sold them on FB. Jump the gun imo.

Zynga Poker can apparently be played through Myspace and Yahoo as well as on the iphone. There's links to all their games on their website.

Although why someone would want to play Zynga games is beyond me. Especially since they just got hacked.

I know, and why play these flash-based games when we all have systems that can handle much more? I guess if you work in an office and want to pass the time or something but at home I can't fathom it.

I have friends who play Farmville and Cityville at home. I tell them to try the Sims or Simcity titles if they are that into it and want the real deal.

I used to play MafiaWars, a Zynga game, on FB. Gave up about 8 months ago. I do play another similar-styled game (CastleAge)... different company that's much more responsive to player input and feedback than Zynga ever was.

Unfortunately, the glitz is what gets a game going, not the substance. Kind of the old "story vs. eye candy" issues of RPGs... some things never change.

It's apparently a very profitable business in Second Life as well, i've been to some of those places where you can play the game on virtual slotmachines. You play of course with virtual money, but you have to buy that virtual money with real life cash. I know a person from Houston who managed to lose over 700$ in one night. That's when i advised her to play WoW instead.
