My party so far, Minsc, Jahiera, Aerie, Yoshi (did have Nalia, but left her at the Keep after I got it since she wasnt effective in battle).

I'm like on the border of chapter 3 with tons of quests from chapter 2 to complete (seems like everybody i talk to wanted me to do something)and Aerie and I think Jaheria have made gestures toward me.

I told Aerie "I didn't have feelings for her like that" (or something to that effect), and I think Jaheira wanted me to buy her a gift of something at the dock district but I didn't.

I'm too busy "dying", trying to figure out where to go and what to do next, and reading tomes of scrolls to get into a NPC relationship. Anybody else ever do a no romance game?

And, will they officially stick to fighting and/or whining and leave the relationship stuff alone now?

Don't worry, you're not obligated to have a romance by any means--it's simply a way of putting in more roleplaying content to make the game experience more fulfilling. If either (or both) romances fail, you don't have to feel that YOU have failed: Call me crazy, but I would place top priority on keeping body and soul together, not on trying to hop into bed with whatever hot-blooded Elven female comes my way. So concentrate on learning tactics and beating the game: In fact, it's even better if you don't romance anybody in your first game, as it gives you something to look forward to in future games. The key to Baldur's Gate is its replay factor: At first, you're, "Hey, I haven't played as a Ranger yet," and then it's "Hmm...and Evil Bard sounds kinda cool," and when you start getting really into it, you can say, "I'm going to roleplay a Wizard Slayer who falls in love with Aerie and changes his ways to Dual-class to Mage!"

That got kinda garbled. What I meant to say was that the addition of the Romances (or lack thereof) enhance the replay factor by providing different paths to take. But on your first game, your brain is spinning fast enough already.

As always, good stuff. And the part about "first game... brain spinning" is spot on. Yeah, I'm going to leave the romance alone this time through.

btw.. have a look at my other post about "minsc getting crippled". Dont know what happened it might be a bug. Of all people you would know.
