Single class thief CANNOT use axe, and the best (or one of the best)weapon for thief is probably Celestial Fury. Other good weapons include Flame Tongue, Black Razor, Daystar ... etc.

ya true but for once I don't want to use the best! I think cuthroat and the short bow+1 that adds 1 attack per round could be lots of fun! Plus the pixie dagger would be neat! Wish i could use axes oh well!

Any other cool items?

p.S why do all the short swords in the game suck so much?

*HINT*

Daystar is a great weapon against the undead but if you have the celestial fury you may not want to use it. Instead equip it in another weapon slot and have the celestial fury in the active slot. This wont give you the swords combat abilities but will give you the spells that come with it : sunray, eyc. Sunray kicks ass if your are facing a big group of vamps (kills most if not all of them).

Personally i like using that Kachinko's Wakizashi +3 from Adventurer's Mart - When i can afford it...I like them oriental weapons but thieves weilding katanas seems a little over the top IMO And anyway, how is a thief gonna use a katana in a tight spot? he'd need room the use the thing. (In a role playing perspective! )

I agree i think that backstab weapons should be limited to daggers possibly shortswords and clubs for coshing. imagine a halfling with a katana for example, it just dont make sense. swords are slashing weapons anyway. celestial fury is the best backstab weapon and can hit for 150 odd points of backstab damage.
