Despite what some people may think (not you, Donut, someone else), if I am posting a smart-ass insincere smiley I usually state it obviously. So, yes, it was genuine.
I rarely bother to insult someone without doing it openly. I'm simply too unimaginative and/or honest to be indirect. Oh, now there's a thought: Honest Lawyer for Hire. *runs* |

What I don't understand is why our US members (meaning no disrespect) is so 'eager' to shoot these poor victims of society, who're only trying to make a dishonest living

MagiK,
I was not defending the robbers. It happened to me a few times, it's an awful feeling and they shouldn't walk away free. That's for sure. But, they don't deserve death for that. Hell no. You started a thread asking if the farmer really deserved all that. I answered a clear yes. That doesn't mean at all I'm defending the robbers.

If you don't want to be killed, don't break into my house. Nobody is forcing you to illegally enter my property. Take responsibility for your actions. If you place me in a situation where I feel my family is in danger, I will respond accordingly. And don't give me that crap about finding out what the intruder's intentions are first. How does this scenario sound? Me - "Hey! What are you doing here?" Intruder - "Oh, thanks for telling me you're here. *bang*. I'm here to kill you all " Me - "Ouch." *falls down dead* Again, it all boils down to this - if you are in my house illegally, then you are here to do something illegal. If you get beaten/legs broken/bludgeoned to death because I assume the illegal act may threaten my life, then that was your decision, and you have to live (or die) with the consequences. I know Masklinn and I wasn't trying to say your opinion was wrong. Im just saying that I disagree with you and that I believe that anyone who invades anothers home deserves whatever he gets...wether it is death or dismemberment or both. I believe it is just wrong, mean and immoral for society to force a person in his or her own home to not only to have to worry about their lives from illegal intruders but then to also have to worry about "society" screwing them too because they were afraid in their home and acted to save themselves...all while all they were doing was trying to sleep at night. Oh, yea, I completely agree with that. If somebody broke into my house, I would feel threatened and I would protect myself. I, however, wouldn't chase them when they would try to run away (like this farmer seemed to do). I think that's the difference between defending yourself, and beating the crap out of a person when they're already running away or are down... So, self-defence should be allowed, but ONLY when it's self-defence. It stops becoming self-defence when your safety isn't in danger anymore... So whoever would defend themselves, or hurt an intruder when their life was in danger shouldn't be accused of murder, or injuring a person or anything like that. But, if they chased the thief outside when they were trying to get away (not endagering you anymore) and then beat them up some more, then I see no problem with putting this person up for a trial.
