Did it remind anyone else of Level 3 of Watcher's Keep?

perhaps a little, yeah. except, in my opinion, level 3 in WK was a whole lot more annoying. took me hours to get through the level, without the help of the shedemons of course.

When I discovered how the Fell Wood was going to be the first thing I did was come here and find the solution to it. Waste of time to me to find the correct sequence of paths, even with wilderness lore...but then again I don't go in for that sort of thing. I don't mind soving an intellectual puzzle, riddles, etc. but random path selection: hate it!

As for the "wimp-o-wisps", I killed them with extreme predjudice!!!

And to think, somewhere along the line the game designers must've thought 'you know what would make this game a whole lot better? A great big MAZE MAN!!! Seriously, the punters are gonna love this!'.
Sheesh.

THAT'S WHAT WILDERNESS LORE IS FOR?!
Wish that i would have known that at the time.
Somehow I made it through, however i didn't have too much trouble with the willow wisps. After the big hype about it I was expecting a demigorgon type battle. Earth Elementals helped.

I'm one of those people who tends to buy the Guide Book when I purchase the game, but, during my first time through, never consult it (I admit I must "hide" it from myself by putting it in an inconvenient location until I have been through once... but, after that first time, though, I tend to take full advantage of it ). Fell Wood frustrated me to the point that I retrieved the book & had to use it (which, incidently, sucks compared to the BGII/IIToB books, but is on par with IWDI, & is much more useful than the BGI book) during my first time through, & that's saying something for me! I haven't done that since Durlag's Tower!

I read the 'TIP's in that Chapter & discovered that "A character with a high enough wilderness lore will be able to navigate the Fell Wood quite easily", & proceeded to have a much easier time with it, given that I had a character with WL (maybe I wouldn't hate Fell Wood so much if I'd thought of that on my own but then I think "what if I didn't have that character?"... I'd hate it more...). But still, I experienced TONS of frustration with this area & even broke my unwritten rule of not picking up the Guide during my first time through!! So, needless to say, I absolutely *despise* Fell Wood as one of my all-time hated areas!

The first game I did it without trouble. I simply quicksaved every time before leaving an area, and put something on the ground, if I was taken to the area with the item on the ground, I reloaded, and tried again with another way.

The second game I used wilderness lore.

But wilderness lore doesn't work in one of the areas... it just says that logs have been dragged around... worked in all the rest though...

It's a hint, it's not logs that have been draged around, it's the Dark Trents.
