My first time facing him and I killed him, but danged if he didn't take Aerie with him. When she first went down, her body was intact so I thought no prob, glad I hung on to that rod of ressurection. When old Kraggy went DOA he fell right on top of Aeries body and splat, she chunked all over the place. Blast it I have too much invested in her, and I'm too tired to go for seconds....

Are you serious, The.Relic? Aerie took damage from being fallen on by a dying dragon? Granted, Firkraag is a little on the heavy side, but I didn't know that could happen.

Yep I'm serious, and I was one unhappy camper.. I took him and that mage on at the same time and it was rough. I was shocked when old Kraggy croaked because I thought I was toast. I never tackled him before and by the time we finished off that mage (and he was no slouch) we didn't have much left but the proverbial kitchne sink to throw at Big Red. Aeries body was laying there and my Kensai was whacking away. I think the trusty Vorpal got him on a fail versus death, but that towering hunk of red meat plopped right down on top of Aerie's body and she splatted all over the place. Blast, blast, blast. I'm no pro at this and I really don't feel like going back at it again right now....

Well Memnoch, I had the premonition that it would come to this. My characters all are still fairly low level, for example none of my magic users can cast level 6 spells yet. I manage to trounce the Big Red Machine every time, but he always takes 1 to 3 of my characters with him. I hate to walk away from him, but I may need to let my characters level up some more first. That nasty fireball of his kills Aerie, Edwin and sometimes Jaheira in one cast, and Jaheira has nearly 100 HP's.
I hate having to sacrifice good offensive spells but since his fireball is the one that always charbroils my characters, I guess it's time to load up on those protection from fire spells. Wish me luck ,, heh... I know that many of you younger readers had it easy with Firekrag, but I'm old and my mind doesn't work as well as it used to so I'm not as good as the rest of you. But I plug along anyway |

You find the scales on his body which Cromwell, in the docks district, can make into the red scale armour, AC-1 and 50% fire resistance.

Speaking of interesting fights with Badbreath, I had a rather even battle against him when suddenly one of my mages (Imoen I think) landed a disintegrate or finger of death or something on him (which I was rather surprised worked) which blasted him into a zillion gooey pieces all over the cave. Looked great but he took his corpse and loot with him, leaving me emptyhanded (except for the 50k exp or whatever). Can anyone fill me in with what he has so I can claim my rightful loot through Shadowkeeper?

He happens to have Carsomyr, also known as the Holy Avenger +5, a Cloak of the Shield which is useless (who EVER used that in the game?) and about 2000 gp. And some gems I can't remember which ones.

I managed to beat him at low level by using summoned monsters, etc to distract him by attacking from the front whilst my fighters surrounded him around the rear (ooh err!) and hacked away. Jaheira cast insect plague after my mages had used lower resistance, malison, doom, breach etc and then I found attacking spells woulsd work also. Don't attack the mage and dragon together, talk to the dragon first and the mage will teleport upstairs so that you can fight them individually.

Duh! No wonder I never found that silly sword everyone talked about. Oh well, if only Keldorn can use it (or is it just paladin only?) I'll have no use of it with that gang anyway.
People have mentioned some armor called Red Scales or such. Does he have those as well? |
