In addition, just for your information, a lich was an archmage in his/her previous life. One who is not an archmage could never have the knowledge and ability to sustain life after death.

elemister himself is a level 29 archmage that is 500+ years old not sure, that's what i got out of the BG I handbook *shungs*

that doesnt mean anything. Elminister casted spells that required higher lvl even though his current lvl is only 29

archmage's power is not decided by just the figurine number of their lvls. it is intelligence, experiences and knowledge

They are changing this is NWN maybe becos of 3rd edition? Archmage is a class you can research after becoming a certain level as a mage i think and the archmage class goes up to L5.
