I also didn't snowball it, at least not on purpose. I'd have been out of debt even faster had I done so. And I did get a second job, delivering pizzas. Programmer by day, pizza guy by night. In addition to having more money coming in, I had less time to spend it, meaning I kept more of it.

Whatever works for you...
I did the delivery gig too, and that's been the most effective at cutting my balances. Like you said, more $$ coming in + less time to spend it. I just got burned out on 60-70 hour weeks. I'm rested up now & willing to do it again, I've just been looking for something different for a 2nd job.

I hear you. At one point, I told the managers that if I was stuck there until 2AM cleaning up again by myself, I was done. Never happened again.

'Course, back then I was single, so 60-70 hours a week and no real social life was okay by me...

Does it appear they're infringing on one or more of those "isms"? Do they seem to be acting based on one of those areas? If not, might be difficult to address. PM or email me if you want to discuss more or offline.
I would say it's more of a case of being reprimanded when others are doing the same thing, but they are not.

Maybe it's more labour relations?

..or maybe it is because I'm German, or Religious..?

Could be labour relations. What does it say in the policy manuals about what you're doing? That will be your benchmark. If it says "Don't do what you're doing", you're toast But if it doesn't address anything specifically, then part of what you'd want to address is whether it's being applied to everyone, or if you're being singled out.

If you're being singled out, then they are tinkering with offending on one of the "isms" and could end up in the wrong. A simple question of "well, if you're reprimanding me, are you reprimanding everyone who does this?" can go a long way.

Bottom line, in many ways... are you hitting your numbers? Knowing that you're in sales there, hitting your numbers causes forgiveness of many, many sins. Failure to hit them creates new sins you never knew about before

I am 1 of 11 people out of 150 who achieved the sales goal. Which means a free trip for 2 to the Hilton Cancun in April.
Feb. is the new fiscal year and it's going good so far.

I am waiting to ask HR that question myself.

Kind of sets things in perspective, doesn't it? I wonder if they would like the other 139 people to have similar results....

Enjoy yourselves in Cancun. When are you heading down there?

Just one word of warning about Human Resources and HRC....
Think for a second...who pays them? In most cases it is the "Company" and despite any protests to the contrary, they may not be your friend and may in fact help Management find a good way to get rid of you if you become a target.

Good point. HR is there in support of the company, ultimately, and not the employee. The company will still be there after the employees are gone.

Oh, believe me, I'm aware of HR, specially ours.

I'm really hoping that my manager will call back and say: I talked to HR and they said...

Then I will ask who they were speaking with and call them. Then I will ask if they are supposed to be non-partisan. Then I'll call head office in TO.

The trip is April 18th to 23rd, or longer. I'm thinking of making it 2 days longer.
Why, you want to look after the dog and cats??

Cancun was one of our spring break options, but we're going much earlier. Take the extra days... it's enjoyable.
