I have a problem with my bard. She has the musician trait and the music skill, but she cannot use an instrument. What's wrong?

Are you try to equip them or just going with the use/give item option?

I don't know lots about musical stuff but I don't think you're supposed to equip them.

Good luck and tell us how you make out.

Love to help you here but I never had a bard, kinda skipped 'em. But from everything I've read, it sounds like you just have to use it. Have you tried clicking on the special ability button (the one that says Dragon Fire) yet? That's how I was guessing you used them and it does take stamina to play instruments, again from what I've read, so it sort of makes sense to me that you'd click the Dragon Fire button to use it.

Hope I was able to help!

Well, I'm even MORE ignorant on this subject so this is the perfect time for me to include my completely contrary advice.

I think you need to equip something in the shield spot but you USE the instruments.

Now what we need is someone to post who KNOWS what they are talking about! lol!!!

(we may not be right, but we're never boring!)

All you have to do is "Use" the instrument in the "Give/Use" scroll, just like any other Useable item. You "Use" it on the creature, just as if you were casting a spell.

From my experience, the type of musical instrument u used was dependant on ur level of music skill. For example, I once had a lute that had the Heal realm spell, which ordinarily is a level 4 (I think!) spirit spell, but my bard only had a level 3 music skill. The spell always fizzeled until I brought up my music skill. I hope this helps
