Does this have any affect with bows?
PS It's well worth double slotting if you wield a 2 handed sword. Increases weapon speed and chance for critical hits. Monks should use the 1 weapon specialization. My 12th level monk still fights with Belm because it lowers his AC by 1 and gets more attacks per round. 3-10 damage with a weapon 4 attacks per round vs 1-12 w/bare hands 2 attacks per round. Will definately go Kung Fu later though.... |

Yeah, monks are awesome, I love 'em. One thing to realize though, is that they're pretty weak until you get to the middle levels (13-14...13 you get his best special ability, 14 he starts getting his awesome magic resistance...3% per level). Also, I'd save weapons for him to use until you hit at least 15, as that's when his hands become +2 weapons (at 20 they become +3s, nice)

2-handed proficiency has no effect on bows, it only applies to melee weapons. This is also true of single-weapon style and slings/darts.
Monks are great fun, I recommend having one in your party (or soloing of you want more of a challenge). They get very powerful towards higher levels (I've killed Firkragg with 2 hits), and their fists definitely turn out to be their best weapons, especially if you use a couple of special items. It is a shame there are no NPC monks, it kind of limits party combinations if you have to play one yourself. |
