waaayyy back in the first level of the dungeon where you start, there was a broken weapon you found on a body. does this ever have a use? i havnt found one yet.

maybe an enigma like the plantoons. If you keep it in inventory during ToB, it might be reforged into a +5 or something.

This is just an off-the-wall guess, but I'm thinking the game designers put it in to give the players a break. I've played through that particular dungeon a few times & noticed that the broken weapon doesn't always show up among the duergars' possessions. The way I usually handle this room is to have Imoen lay down a web or stinking cloud and then all who can pick them off with missle weapons. The only time the broken weapon shows up for me is when one of the duergar manage to break free and enter into melee; therefore, when he actually hits his weapon breaks and you are given a bit of a break.

Hypothesis-

I suspect that this artifact appears when an enchanted weapon is summonned. I have seen it appear in my own inventory after making a longsword, shortsword or axe, and the spell wears off.
