It needn't be a computer game, or even a game you've played in the last decade. But of all the games you've played, which is the one that gave you the most satisfactory experience?

Sorry I can't give just one answer for this, so here are some of my favorites.....Cosmic Encounter, Magic The Gathering, Axis and Allies, AD&D (of course) Empire Builder (Eurorails, Australian Rails...etc.) there are more I just can't think of anything else right now.

I know what you mean. You'll notice I didn't answer my own question. Maybe Might & Magic III? Or Ultima VII? Or Alpha Centauri? Or King of Dragon Pass? or Master of Magic, Patrician II, Railroad Tycoon II...?

Check back with me in a few weeks.

Amen on the Cosmic Encounters!! My Filch/Vulch combo is frightening.

My favorite computer game is Combat Mission (World War II game)

I would have to go back to the old "Ultima IV" on the apple computer. The graphics used all 8-colors and the plinking speakers were fabulous. Going into each town and trying to figure out each persons daily schedule made it seem all the more life-like.

As far as sheer mass of time dedicated it's easily Doom/DoomII/Quake, there was a while there where I was playing 3+ hours a day. And I thank them for proving that those LAME "Pay for Play" internet racketts are not the only way to do internet multiplayer. The day I pay $50 for a game then pay monthly to be able to play it is the day you can take me out to the pasture and put me out of my misery.

RPG - Diablo II - I know some of you guys don't think it's a true RPG but it's close enough for me... and has IMMENSE replayability. My wife and I have been through the entire game at least 6 times on the way to level 80 and there's some out there that are at 100.

"Classic" CRPG - BG2

Simulation - Operation Flashpoint - outstanding game!

Strategy - Warcraft II - fun as all get out!

I also have some honerable mentions -
Empire (the origonal text game that I played on a VAX when I was a kid...)
Ultima I-IV - the early ones were the best!
Kings Quest I/II - good graphic adventure
Leisure Suit Larry - they showed topless girls! Of course the entire top of the girl was about 8 pixels... but it's the thought that counts!
Myth - Great concept... but frustrating in places when it forced you to follow a recipe to win instead of using tactics and strategy.

I would have to say that my fav games are..... quake 3 diablo 2 and grand theft auto3. And i would like to comment on the person that said some people are at lvl 100 on diablo2. That is immpossible considering you can only get to lvl 99.

You'd think so wouldn't you?

I know people who are at level 125 and higher. All you need is the proper patch and the sky is the limit. Personally I can't imagine playing long enough to get to 125 without cheating on XP somewhere, but they're out there.
