ok your walking up this icy hill theres fog everywhere so you can't see around you. As your walking up this hill you start sliding down just as fast as you walk up. so how would you know you aren't going anywhere? think about it.

it can be on a road if you want but you couldn't see the car only hear it because of the fog. but I don't see how the car would help any because a car would pass you even if you walking without sliding.

BTW yes I'm no longer an avatar!!! it only took me like 4 months to gain another title!!! ok just had to note that.

If You Can See The Floor:

Take Out A Peice Of Chalk And Mark It On The Pavement, Then, 10 Seconds Later Look Down And See If Your Still On The Line!!

yes I suppose that would work but then why would you think of doing that if you don't know your not going anywhere? and can you right with chalk on ice? remember that the grownd is covered in ice.

This is a non-problem.
If you try to walk up an ice-covered slope, normal walking without anything you can grip to hold your balance, and not crawling, you're going to fall flat on your face. Well, unless you're wearing boots with spiked soles, but then you wouldn't have the problem of not making any headway.

Like J'aran said, your feet wouldn't slip, but also, as I see it, if you're not going anywhere you wouldn't feel the breeze caused by your own movement. If you're walking you can feel the air against your face ~ I just now practiced to make sure ~ and if you're walking in place (not going anywhere) there isn't an air current.

You might, perhaps, but not all of us are psychic.

And Roxi, that might work, but only on an absolutely windless day. Otherwise the air current you feel from your movement will be lost in the wind, as there is no way to discern between the two.

If it was windy, there would be no fog.

Anyway, to up the hill you must raise your weight, whereas if you were not moving you're legs wouldn't do any lifting. You would be able to tell the difference.
