I dunno anything about Expert lvl, but the "spell duration" stuff makes your spells last twice as long.

Check it out.

As I have said before DW, take things slowly, learn about your strengths and weaknesses and how best to play the game. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon...

Are you still asking about the damn "spell duration" thing?
Expert lvl is probably just like any other lvl in the game. Only difference is that it's harded, and maybe has a couple different enemies. Take Mouse's advice and slow down.

Each time you increase in difficulty levels...
 • The monsters have more hitpoints (usually double for expert, triple (from base level) for master, etc.) - even the bosses have more hitpoints
 • Monsters have increased capabilites - some can cast reflections. At the highest level, some can heal themselves while you are trying to kill them.
 • There are more monsters per level
 • Invisibility may not work at the higher dungeon levels
 • You tend to find better stuff and Elmeric/Gunther has better items to sell.
 • The monsters move faster - hit faster.

Good luck,
