Bad news from the Limbo world. As you know the idea was to wrap a rope around the world at the equator at a height of 1 metre to allow everyone to limbo dance underneath the rope. Unfortunately a mistake was made in the length of the rope and it was apparently made to the exact measurement of the circumference of the earth and could only be wrapped around the earth at ground level.

My question is this: What length of rope needs to be added to the existing rope to allow them to lift the rope 1 metre off of the ground all around the world?

Well, since it is a circumference question, and you're wanting to increase the radius by 1m, I'd say the answer would be 2 pi. And, what is this, test you're secondary education moment?

Take the diameter of the Earth in meters, ad 2 meters and multiply by pie. Subtract the orginal measurement from what you get and the remainder is the length you need.

So what you are saying Variol is that the answer is 6.283 metres (give or take a few extra decimal points). Is this what you mean?

I don't know what the diameter of the Earth is, I'd have to do a search, but that would be my guess.
