Well I think it's a great world. You just need to be able to hold your own if push comes to shove is all... don't rely on others to keep you safe and you'll do just fine.

Fair enough, just don't complain if you get picked on and no one is around to defend you (although I'm sure you wouldn't anyway). Violence is not an evil, used sparingly and appropriately it holds the fabric of civilisation together.

not really, because the elevator moves between floors. once your trap in the stairwell you can be in trouble.. and there is usually camera's in the elevator
You know, we have cameras in the stairwell as we... And it's not overly hard to stop an elevator between floors you know.

LOL @ the predator post Aaron. But yeah, be prepared for the worst but expect the best, it's good to be able to stand up for yourself, even if you never have to use these skills.

I'm unsure about tip 1 - I'm pretty sure the knee can do more damage. Then again, there are a lot of martial arts out there, all with different tips.

yeah man, it's not so much which 'weapon' you use, but which target you aim for. Use 'soft' weapons like an open palm or the ball/side of the foot for 'hard' targets like the face, head, ribs (basically anything bony). And use hard weapons like the elbow, knee or closed fist for soft targets like the abdomen, eyes, throat, balls etc.
Well, that's the way I've been taught, and it has worked so far...

When I was doing Kempo, we ONLY punched or kicked for the sola plexus, floating rib or jaw as the most vulnerable places. Well ok bollocks too but we were taught to always cover the groin.

LOL! *joins in the chest banging* Ugh! Ugh! Hehe you just gotta be careful when practicing. One time my training partner relaxed his guard too early and I kicked him sweetly in the solar plexus, needless to say he wasn't breathing too good for a while...oops!
