is your connection wireless or wired?
OS: winxp?
Internet: cable?

router, lan card model and stuff..

and what exactly is the problem?

Also, have you got Broadband, yes?

What did you connect your router too? How many PCs do you have?

And yes, it would be nice to know if it was wifi or wired

Yep... you can get lots of answers in here. How is your computer connected to the Internet access point in the new room? Wired or wireless? How was it connected in the old room? Let's start there and see what's up.

Well like this we can't help you much. You haven't told what you did exactly, which software you use and which settings you changed/set, what's not working and how the local network looks like. We need details

also the exact model of your wireless card and router would help a lot.

You need two things to make the wireless bit work. You need a wireless access point (WAP), which will be in the office and connected to a router or something else in there. You will also have a wireless network interface card (NIC) that will be in the computer itself, whether that's in your room or someplace else.

Once you've got those two, you need to configure the WAP. From the wired computer, you should be able to connect to it via your favorite browser; its default IP address will be something like 192.168.0.0, depending on the brand. You'll want to set it to a fixed address so that it's always at the same place in your network.

You'll then want to install the wireless NIC in your computer and configure it to connect to the WAP. There should be instructions included, and frankly, when you first set it up, there's no security at all. Depending on your OS, it may even find it for you automatically.

Once you're there, try to connect to the WAP via your browser. That will prove that the connection works.

Then try to connect to the internet. That will tell you if you've got the WAP configured properly.

There's a lot more detail behind those steps, but that's the basic flow. Of course, the final stage is to add in the security levels, but first things first...

Give more info, get more answers
