I didn't like Diablo or BG. The combat system sucked! Stupid pausing; what looser came up with that? But I think PST is turn-based right?

Erm...when you say stupid pausing, did you mean the auto-pausing or the choice to pause at will? O.o
The auto-pausing can be removed, but the pausing feature itself was necessary because of the way the game was made...and it was introduced in the concept of how you instantly react to an enemy, or whatever. With the game set out the way it is, it's nearly impossible not to pause at some point. For example, if a bandit attacked you in real life, you would instantly react, but with BG pausing is necessary for that kind of reacting. Without it, your character is still fumbling around with his weapon or choosing a spell while the bandit pokes him with a dagger. Grojlach: Thanks! I searched eBay after my post, and realised it was available there...I never tried that, d'oh! But it's not as cheap as the $10 from Amazon. |

Actually slicer, old buddy, I really prefer something fully turn-based in games where there's more than one character. My favorite engine for third person (top-down view) games is Pool of Radiance and Temple of Elemental evil. It's just such a great system! There are a ton of games out there like BG, Diablo and Icewind Dale, that could have been so much better had they used that system. Obviously this is mine own opinion.

Variol: I see where you come from...the Temple of Elemental Evil is a great system. I loved that game...but as Icewind Dale, it lacked for me as the characters weren't as real as they are in BG, mainly because you create them. ToEE wasn't a bad game though, if a little buggy. I may pick it up sometime...
Groj: You know, I guess you're right...I think I'll try that. Thanks again! |
