In meandering through the posts, I found out that you invoke ankhs to up your stats. Permanently, right? Ye gods, I thought they were temporary and sold them all!!

Yes permanently
And watch out for other items that are invokeable too, like amulets! |

You can buy them back...at a loss.
If you have the cash and want to get over 18 in a stat then it's a decent option. That or reset adventures and go get some mummies. |

I've identified some amulets, but they're mostly invokable attack spells aren't they? Out of curiosity, is there any way to recharge things like amulets or wands?
As fer them mummies... I've found 'em in the crypt and a couple in Shurugeon Castle. Do they hang out anywhere else? |

The amulets of holding, silence and healing invoked all give +1 to Strength. But only to wizards and warlocks as far as I can tell. And probably to the Zen Masters, but haven't confirmed this.
To recharge an amulet, just sell it and buy it back. Am not sure if you have to be in the magic shop for this, so save first to find out. If you don't have ID, you might save first before invoking anything to find out what it does. Then reload if you want to give whatever boost it provides to the character that needs it most, of the ones it will affect. |

Once you get high up enough in Fiend Magic, start casting the spell "Summon Fiend" when fighting opponents (especially the puny ones that you don't care much about). This will summon Ice Elementals and Hellspawns if you're lucky, which typically carry ankhs (among other things). Pickpocket the Ankhs off of them while you're fighting. It's a great "legit" way to get a lot of Ankhs fairly quickly and get those stats above 18.
