Anybody know how much better the 9250 is, if at all? I have the 9200se now and I find it quite good.

SE is really bad in video cards and many times very deceiving since the numbers could be similiar to a good card (like the Nvidia 6800SE). If you are actually wondering about a new purchase and want to stick with the budget 9xxx ATI's go with the 9800 pro. Amazing card IMHO, was the best around for a good while there.

They had the 9250 at Staples for about $30cdn. I was wondering how much difference I would see.

Add around $30 and you could get yourself a world of difference with the 98pro. It could cost even less as it is an older card now but far better than either of the above two.

9800 Pro> 9250 > 9200SE. The SE designation is a stripped down 9200 which is the lowest of the 9000 series cards as is.

I am in full agreement with SpiritWarrior; go with a 9800Pro if you can afford it. If not then the 9250.

Are all of these AGP cards? I know they're getting very hard to find.

Looks like the 9800 is getting hard to find...I saw one for $92, and the 9250 is around for about $60 on the internet (newegg and tigerdirect, anyway).

The 9250 and the 9200 were more often PCI cards. The 9800 was an AGP card everywhere I found it.

On a similar note, I managed to find an x1300 on the PCI bus at tigerdirect...surprised the heck out of me.

AGP cards are not really getting hard to find...the high performance ones are...like the AGP model of the x800 or x850

PCI, though...it's hard to put a real graphics card in your mom's computer, because they just don't support PCI these days. Not even if you just want to play Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

Every 9200 and 9250 that I have come across has been an AGP one, though they are many PCI models available.
