Okay, I've pretty much come to the conclusion that: 1) Mind Flyers are the Anti-Christ and 2) they are impossible to beat. Well, okay they are possible to beat, otherwise they wouldn't have put them in the game -- it's just that I can't figure out how!
I'm talking about the group of them that are in the secret room, in the sewers below the temple district. I've tried summoning spells but they just walk through everything I throw at them. I've tried other spells too, but I can't get too close or else I'm done for: they stun me and then cast word kill or something. Speaking of the stun spell, is there anything that can dispell that? If anybody can help me out with this I'd sure appreciate it. |

First hit every room with a cloudkill spell to eliminate the Umber Hulks. Then try to get the Mindflyer out into the hallway. Summon Elementals and Skeletons to block the entrance to the room and attack them with ranged weapons. Have allways enough Skeletons at hand.
I was never able to counter the Domination spell by dispel magic, so I just kill all the mindflyer and get away from that chracater until it wears off. |

Two major nastiness...
project image and lvl 15 mage spell animate dead. at lev 15 your mage can cast skeleton warriors. project image lets you cast a duplicate, and the image can cast spells without depleting the characters spells. load up all slots with animate dead and project image. right in front of the dungeon cast project image and summon as many skeleton warriors as possible. I can get about 30. did i mention you can exceed the 5 summoned monster limit with a projected image? anyway I sent in 12 skeleton warriors against a room full of 6 mindflayers once, with 2 high level type. it was a slaughter. a mindflayer can kill skeleton warriors by draining its int. this is the ONLY thing the flayer can do against it. however with 12, you can lose around 4, however the flayers will be dead. |

Invisible Stalkers + Haste = Mind Flayer soup
Invisible Stalkers are INMUNE to stun and domination spells. You may notice that the "domination icon" appears above the head of an Invisible Stalker, but this is a bug, because you can control your Invisible Stalkers even if they got the "domination" icon in their heads. The only serious danger to your Stalkers are the Humber Hulks, because they can do a lot of damage to them. Just put a mage or a ranged char to snipe at the Hulks with magic or projectiles. |

Spoiler:
> > > > > Regarding entrance to the room in the sewers under temple district, you need to go to Windspear Hills and defeat Tazok in the dragon's dungeon, he has the "sewer key". |

Hell Lich - That greenstone amulet you get from the beholder lair is the perfect anti-mind flayer device. Use that and start blastin'away

What about the bream potion (spelling??) that you get in the Mind Flayer section at the Underdark? I think they prevent their psonic blast (or something like that) attacks. You can always grab extras for later uses.
