Regardless, though, you should be working on that homework, Drew! Oh, and for those who are curious, the coefficient of rolling friction of an Airbus Jet Airliner is .02 .

Why would you want to know that? Because you love physics!

Good afternoon, all. Soup for lunch, yay. Very slow in the office this morning, so I did a pencil drawing of Imoen disarming a trap in the Nashkell Mines.

Evening all!

Does anyone here use Star office? It is any different from Micro$oft's version? I'm downloading it right now from my Uni's servers, as my computer didn't come with a word processor.

Hey Bill, didn't know you were an artist

Just woke up...11:30 here on the west coast...since I did't go to algebra yesterday that means I'll have to get the homework off the internet and do it today. And study for a test, grr.
Got mythology class tonight though, so looking forward to that.

Time to go shower before I start my homework. Cheers, everyone

I've used it in the past, back when Sun still offered it as a free product. OpenOffice is the free version now; Star Office costs a wee bit (but less than MS Office).

It worked mostly okay for me, although it had problems with some large documents (like my technical book).

BTW, since you are a student, you qualify for the MS Office Student edition -- as low as $125 this week at OFficeMax. Not only is that cheaper than the regular prices, you can also load it on up to three machines under the same license. So if you max it out (as I plan to), that's $40 or so apiece.

Those with students in their household also qualify for the Student license...

My school's got StarOffice on all the SPARC machines in our UNIX labs -- I've always liked OpenOffice myself, but they both handle M$ Office files just fine.

I've taken to using KOffice -- the suite that comes with KDE -- on my laptop, if only because of sheer laziness. It's run into more conversion problems than OpenOffice usually finds.

Bungleau's made a good point! I remember buying academic versions of both MS Office and Corel's suite several years ago and it was a substantial savings!
