I've been given the task to find some things out about Myspace.com and possibly set up a profile. From what I've heard it's basically a place for angsty EMO teens and I've been shown some pretty hilarious profiles of people who take them selves way too seriously. However, somewhere, someone said that it is a great place for bands/artists to spread their music and recently I found out that some friends of my friends had actually gotten record deals abroad because of their profile.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this kind of thing?
The thing being band profiles on Myspace and what it has done for their careers?

I believe RobertTheBard has a myspace profile with his music on display, and i'm sure he will respond in this thread

But yeah, the rest of Myspace is full of emo's, goths, Wigga's (hope no one is offended by that term) and so on, but from what I hear tere are still a fair few decent profiles in there.

There are a lot of bands on MySpace, which is the only reason I've set up shop over there, looking for exposure. Gee, hope MagiK don't see this...Anyway, most of the friends on my list are musicians as well, with the few exceptions being people from either here, or Oasis.
So far, I've had no luck from there, yet, but my music isn't exactly what the crowd there would really be into.

There's my profile, if you want to take a look.

No wonder you got no luck yet, the seizure level of your page is way too low. Add some blinking letters on a flashing background, and you'll be on your way to myspace stardom. Why, someone visiting your page wouldn't even know he was still on myspace.

The top 10 myspace profiles kill at least 3 people a day. That's how you know they're extreme.

Well, at least anybody going to my site is only likely to die of boredom...Nothing they can blame on my, unless the player quits working...Which reminds me, maybe I should change some of the music up there. Haven't done that in a while.

The "friend of a friend" I mentioned apparently had some kind of nu-jazz band, whatever that is.

The band this concerns is Universal Poplab. (click the link in my sign! I don't see anyone from IW in the site traffic stats ) They are a synth pop band from Sweden. Do you think the EMO freaks like synth pop?
