Ok. I have a friend, and he wrote this to me:
I know that this may seem to be a very contraversial and bad topic, but I desperately need help. A friend of mine (female) has "met" a guy in chat and wants to meet with him IRL. He shows all the warning signs of being a very dangerous mofo. My friend however, is very gullible and over-trusting. I need someone to track his IP so I can catch his real life info, not the bull-crap he feeds her. If I can do that, I can prove that this guy is a liar and a threat. For example, he always calls her "sweetie" and says he loves her. He also asked if she was a virgin over and over again, and as I said, exhibits all of the signs of some1 that is a serious ****ing threat. I beg you to help me" Does anyone here have the capabilities to do this? It is very worrying, and my friend was nearly in tears over this. Please write back, asap. Lavi

Well, all our IP's are logged on this forum, Ziroc can find them out anytime he chooses to. So if we could get him to post here, or on some kind of guestbook or some such similar tool, you could most likely track him.

I don't think that wud be possible to get him to post on here. Me and my friend are both really worried about this.
is there any way to trace IP's via MSN/ICQ (or any other chat programs??) Also, Is it possible once you have the IP addy to trace an adress. I do belive Ziroc has this power. Could someone direct Ziroc to this thread?

If it's that urgent you're better off telling her parents than trying to track him down.

I don't think we have the intention of tracking him down, we just want to prove taht he is lying to her.
From what I understand, going to her parents wouldn't do much good. It was a sensitive subject, so I stayed away. Also, she is 16, and she does as she pleases.

There is a division of the FBI that monitors the Internet and looks for dangerous stuff. You can contact your local FBI agents who would be able to hire an agent to do all this investigation for you. This FBI division prays every day that people like you will give them leads to dangerous criminals or people that want to harm others. This guy sounds bad to me as well, and I hope that you will be the cause of his downfall. Please...if not your friend...another girl will be harmed. Think about it.

Good post Larry, you beat me to the punch. You betcha Lav, there isn't a single one of us the FBI can't keep very close tabs on and track every single move you make, site you visit or correspondence you have over the internet if they so chose. And Larry is right, they hope and pray for caring citizens to give them leads to potential threats and dangers on the internet. If this individual really meets the criterion, they can check them out.

Larry's advise is really good. Tthat person seems, if not dangerous, then at least not quite normal. Please, think of it, Lav, may be you really should do as Larry says.
Specialists will easily track that man down and find out if he is dangerous indeed.

I think the problem with the idea of gettin in the FBI is that her parents may not be so keen! The girl is presumably getting the mails on the home pc, and if she is not willing to let her parents know, how can the FBI check it out? They have to have permission don't they?
Unless Lavindathar can get this guys e-mail address from his friend and pass it on to the FBI, I doubt they will be able to interfere. But I know nothing of US law on this......
