Again, I agree with you, Clouddyy - besides, when our children are grown up, they have their own life to live, so we have to have other interests than they in life, or we are bound to make their life miserable.

Hola' good to see some serious discussion with respect for other's point of view. BK is absolutely correct. cb, I'm afraid that you will have to wait for that apology until I do something that calls for it. I will not apologize for voicing political thought, opinion, or FACT (I love this stuff!) Remember this definition of character? - Character is what you do when you think no one is looking. And, I have a highly developed b.s. and Hypocrite detector built in. Remember Newt Gingrich's book deal? (to keep the comparisons on an apple to apple basis, book deal is the ONLY thing being compared here, so hold you newt salvoes on other items. This the only way to objectively compare and contrast the issue, nez pas?)
He got a 4million advance to write a book - remember the liberal hue and cry? They hounded him into giving it back, and accepting only a 1 dollar advance - then his book sold millions of copies, and he actually earned more than the 4 mil advance he had been offered.]
Now, Hillary accepts an 8 million dollar deal only two days before Senate ethics rules would have applied to her and kept her from any up-front money, and made her actually earn that income from book sales - I think they call that free enterprise, the basis of our country and economy? The way THE REST OF US have to do it? no, she shamelessly takes the money, and where is the rabid hue and cry from the press? They spent more time explaining how it WAS legal, even if it did look bad, than giving her the same excoriation that Newt got.
Character is what you do when you think no one is looking. Character is the basis upon which you make your judgements, personal and private, but public and policy as well. Only people like the clintons would presume to redefine character to tell us that even though they do all kinds of shady and immoral and outright illegal things personally (shaking finger in our faces, saying I never had sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky- subpeoned billing records from rose law firm mysteriously showing up on an end table two days after the statute of limitations is over), they are able to conduct their public business with the utmost integrity and ethos? The concrete examples one can point to are way to numerous to list here, but if you force me.....
Selling sleep-overs in OUR WHITEHOUSE, fer cryin' out loud, for your own greedy political gain$ ooohhhh, don't get me started, this post will surpass the self-confessed spammer post in only a matter of days (said in a plaintive voice, looking around wonderingly) why do these concrete, can point to it and prove it exists examples impinge not at all on so many? sigh.... Diogene's work is never done, and I for one do not flinch at picking up his torch and carrying it forward against the darkness that threatens us all.

Hey I can deal with that Gabrial. We are split in this country just like that and everyone has to respect everyone elses opinions. But also don't forget that the problems that other countries face are not always the same as ours nor or the solutions the same.

Cloudy I hear you one hundred percent. My wife has a BS in Mathmatics and Physical Science. I don't have any degree. I made twice as much money as she did. That's not right. She did her time in school, she should have been rewarded
for it. She is now a stay at home mother of two children. That was her choice. She does a wonderful job and personally I'd like to see her get something out of
it one of these days, but she won't. Not the way we do things around here. HRC should be commended on her accomplishments. But I personally lost a lot respect for her after Bill's little affair. I'd of walked out so fast on the bastard, it'd make your head swing. I guess I don't understand grovelling for political gain. At the same time I hope my daughter will have the chance to do what she has done. I just hope she will have some principles while doing it.

JJ,

I couldn't have put it better myself, I don't think it was the cheating(though that did make me wonder about his morality) as much as that freakin' finger wagging thing in my face telling me what he did not do. Then getting away with purgury(sp) that would have put you or I in jail for a long time.

I have a question: By show of hand who thinks Slick Hilly will stay senator for six years?? I will bet that she runs in 2004 for the presidency, any takers.

It also looks to me that The liberal media of this country has gotten to Gabriel..sorry dude.

Anyone hear what happened when they recounted all the ballots in florida that Mr. Gore wanted recounted....Bush picked up 437 more than Gore in the recount that the Dem's wanted.....did that make it to England

Sorry about that but this whole Political thing gets my blood boiling....Remember everyone has their own opinion it just happens That JJ and I have the Right one

Gabriel, I refuse to accept your incomplete arguments on the florida vote contre'temps. If you choose to bring up uncounted votes, what about the over 25,000 uncounted republican votes from northern florida? notice how they did not get any mention in the press? how about the way the democrats only wanted to recount the heavily black and liberal precincts in dade and brower counties? why did they not want to include the heavily hispanic and conservative precincts that were in THE SAME COUNTIES?
Did your liberal press in england mention anything at all about the literal vote-buying in chicago? Run by none other than the son of the man who is famous in us politics for saying that 'his' people would vote early and often, even the dead - the name Daley ring any bells? His people were actually caught on camera giving cigarettes to homeless people to vote!!!!! I would like to hear your opinion on that, please?
Drilling in Alaska - again, a subject on which I AM uniquely qualified to speak on, having actually WORKED in the ALASKAN OILFIELD for 5 years, first as a roustabout, then as a hazardous waste recovery specialist and supervisor. Yes, there have been spills and accidents. They happen in EVERY industry. Have you ever been to prudhoe bay, Gabe? The EPA and environuts are so far up the industry's ahem.. arse, they need to be surgically removed in order to pass wind. And please, no flaming rants about how I personally do not care about the environment, remember, fixing it up right was my job! and even now, I do not give it lip service, but put my effort and money where my mouth is - Amanda and I participate in annual trash pick-ups right here in our communities, and when we go camping, not only do we pick up our trash, but also Amanda already makes sure that we pick up anything left behind by the thoughtless others before us. - I am very proud of her, but she was taught that by her dad oops, digression bug bite...
the point? Not only does the oilfield operate with minimum impact, but the pipeline has actually become a major travel corridor for the annual caribou migrations on the north slope. Drilling up there for the proven reserves is not so much a price reduction thing as an independence from foreigners who have the ability to adversely affect our nation's economy isgust: ok, disgust smiley not working, obviously, duh
(I love this stuff!) bring it on, baby!
