In BG2 IIRC elves got +1 thaco for bows and longswords, while halfling +1 thaco for slings (all aside from the dexterity bonus). Was it implemented in IWD? Can anyone check in-game, because I wouldn't trust the manual on this.

Just a little added point: The same tactics apply in BGI as here. Archers are undoubtedly the most powerful type of characters to play.

I'm quite sure of the stats for elves using longbows and longswords; I checked using the modified Thaco on the record screen. Not so sure about other swords or bows, or the halfling sling bonus.

Elves get a bonus with Longswords and longbows only. Not short bows, bot composite bows; to my knowledge anyway.
