Without my wife to ask, I had to make a decision today on a cell-phone purchase. I wanted to get her one for Christmas, and the company I work for had a special in-house offer with a Nokia phone. The phones were free ($160...I got two) and the plans had a special business rate. I bought two rates, seeing as I wanted one as well. I got 1 local rate for $15.00/mo and one Regional for $30.00/mo.
The local has 60 minutes and 250 free nights and weekends. The regional has 230 +100 minuites, 1,000 Free nights and weekends. I plan on cancelling my home phone's long distance and using the regional phone for those calls, thus making the regional plan worth the money. Activation fees were waived. Did I do good or did I screw up???
I have 30 days to return them if the phones do not work where I need them to.
Thanks for your help.

Larry I worked for Sprint when they Launched Sprint PCS....you did not screw up canceling your home Long distance IF.....(drum roll please)
You get good enough reception at home on the new phone. My problem with that solution is that the Cell phone has problems with connections inside my house....so I got rid of the cell. and kept the home phone.

Just my 2 cents.

Ya done good Larry. I mean you've done well Larry. Sometimes you'll have trouble using a cell phone at your house. At least everyone I know has at one time or other. So keep your home phone.

We actually use our cell phone for all of our long distance and haven't had any problems. Sounds like a good deal to me

It makes sense to drop the house long distance. I don't even use my home line anymore. It seems that if your only long distance is going to be on a cell phone though, you might want to get a plan with more minuites on it. I go through sprint and they have pretty good plans. For the same $30.00 you're paying now, you can get 3000 minuites with them.
