1 in 20 British Women Have Been Raped

This is a horrific fact!!! I was watching the news today, and it gave out this statistic. I nearly choked on my lunch. Can you believe this?!? Unbelievable. Also, nearly all rape attackers are never caught, whether through lack of police evidence or that the victim does not want to press charges.

Sad though it is, it's not exactly a new thing. The numbers are as high as that in a lot of countries, and in almost all cases, the rapist is not a stranger to the woman.
In countries like South Africa the situation is truly gruesome, in part due to the folktale that intercourse with a virgin will cure you from AIDS. Considering thet fact that the bastards want to be sure they've got an actual virgin, they pick victims as young as possible.
It's completely and utterly disgusting that hardly any woman can feel safe from ***holes like this, and gives one little hope for the so called humanity of our society.

That can`t be the real thingies all the rapes in Norway is almost resolved here 85% is completed and the guy is behind bars so that can`t be the true i think.

I was aware of this, though your post really reminded me that this is a frikkin f****** up world we live in.
Underage rape, paedophilia, is one of the most awful crimes that someone can commit. It gets me EXTREMELY worked up when I read/watch/hear it through the news.

1:20 is a very huge percentage.

One in three women have experienced some kind of sexual threat, pressure or assault. It's as sad as that.
You may choose to disbelieve or disregard the facts, but your estimate of 1 in 20,000 is a whole lot more unrealistic than 1 in 20. Remember that a LOT of rapes take place in the woman's personal circle. Remember that if your boyfriend/partner/husband rapes you, it's STILL rape. It's a sad fact but it's true.

Remember that we only hear about the most horrific rapes, and those are thankfuly rare.

I woudnt have though the true number was that high but I knew it was far too high. Although this number has to be an estimate, there being no way of accuratley meauring it, and therefore might be biased one way or the other depending on the source.
