"Once you've soloed, you'll never go back to using a party again."
I do. It just gets too... crowded for me, plus I like the feeling of going up against evil (or good) by myself. Any comments welcome. [ 08-28-2002, 12:57 AM: Message edited by: pcgiant ]

I just wanna solo now. Got some ideas, so we'll see it after a month or twoo But still, I agree, because in the later stages I nearly didnt use my party at all, leaving them behind and clearing the way with my "berserker strength" (c) Minsk ) They give you too much trouble - they can be hurt, killed, poisoned, deseased etc... Like a newborn baby

I find party members anoying! My sorc could just cast fireball/sunfire or cloudkill, but no!!! that would kill my allies
Soloing is way better: you don't have to worrie about anybody but yourself, and you can unleash forces that otherwise would kill your friends (pitfiend?). I only enjoy normal gaming for some of the funnie dialogues (jan, minsk), and the romancing...viconia has some interesting things to say

Yeah, after soloing playing with NPCs seems gay, and not much fun any more... U dont have to worry about people getting killed or being turned into stones and ....Soloing is definitly the best game type for BG2.

It must be emphasised however, that soloing is not for the faint of hearted or the impatient. Especially if you intend to solo on Insane Difficulty, and without cheating.

Dundee,
My first couple of games, I reached as far as Spellhold, and found it too hard, so I began a solo game on Core difficulty, and I found it much easier. I won SoA. Ever since then, I have never really used NPC's except twice, for the romances. I do have experience with parties, though, from BG. The reason I like RPGs is character development. Beginning with Magic Missile and working your way to Time Stop is very fun. P.S. I have now permanently set my difficulty to Insane. P.P.S. My Sorc is getting beaten up by TDD incurred Bugbears... curse double damage! [ 08-28-2002, 07:58 PM: Message edited by: pcgiant ]

Hmmmm? It is in my general experience easier to fight an enemy with the combined might of six party members, especially in ToB. You might think one Mage is powerful, but wait till you see the devastion three Mages can do. Not to mention when you have a Cleric to boost your party, and tanks that act like free summons. Oh, and a Thief to handle traps( set them too) and locks, not to mention pickpocketing. Then there is the Bard with his/her Bard Song. Etc... ...
There are plenty of area-of-effect spells that are party friendly. Chain Lightning, Death Spell and Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting comes to mind. |

In ToB, as you near the EXP cap, yeah, I guess it would be easier with many characters. But, in SoA alone, as I usually play, a very high level character is unbeatable. I haven't really been bothered soloing ToB, I always thought it was too tough, but I will try it with my sorceror.
Eventually.

Took me about half a year before I started soloing SoA-ToB, and my first attempt was a success. SoA is of course easy with a single character, because the game was not designed to handle such levels. ToB is a different story however.

Just a question about soloing, how do u defeat the demon at the end watchers keep with his 2 buddies, with the solafein? mod(makes him tougher)and with a cleric/ranger? I tried but got annihilated everytime. had to wait until TOB with Aerie & edwin to defeat him!
