You forgot the "other" category... for the Linux mongers among us.

Hmm, Mac vs PC, dangerous grounds for a discussion
BTW, I chose my own PC but I'm a huge Dell fan but couldn't select both |

Does owning an Intel Mac with bootcamp count as having both a PC and a Mac, or just a Mac?
It's Mac only in terms of Hardware, but in terms of software, I have both.

The results of the poll tell the story as to why there are no Mac viruses. Less than 25% of respondants, so far, have Macs. There's so little a market on them that it's not worth a "decent" hacker's time. Ah bootcamp, the best way to buy a pc when you don't want to say you have one...
I'd say an Intel Mac is probably closer to a PC, than a Mac. After all, if the vulnerability to viruses is in the actual software, it doesn't matter what hardware you're running it on.

I have bootcamp set up and run both OSX and WinXP. However, I only go online when running OSX. I have disabled all the internet connections in XP. So I don't need to worry about Windows getting bogged down with viruses or spyware. The only path for them to get onto XP for me is if I download a patch or mod for a game under OSX and then transfer it to my Windows partition. If the download contains a virus, then I'm out of luck. I don't worry too much, as official patches should be safe, and I only download mods for games like BG2 when they have been around and have positive feedback. The other great thing is that I don't have to install an anti-virus on my XP partition. I do miss out on playing XP games online, but I prefer single player games anyway. And not being able to start playing UO again is a definite positive when it comes to getting my dissertation done.
