What the heck is the Wiz8SpellAbility spreadsheet? Visit http://wiz8.web1000.com/ to download an Excel spreadsheet that allows you to enter in your spellcasters current stats, and the spreadsheet will tell you what spells the character can learn, or for spells that they are not yet able to learn, it will tell you how many points you need, or why your character can't learn the spell.

Go to the web site and scroll down to the "WHAT'S NEW" section, all the details are there, or you can click here to jump directly to this section.
I'm also asking anyone who's used the file to drop me an e-mail to wizardry8@mail.com , so I can get an idea of how many people are using it and in what countries. Totally optional, it's just that now with a new web service provider, I don't get any stats on how many downloads etc. If there's enough interest, I'll look at adding support for profession-changed characters. quote: Thanks -- went there, read that, downloaded the new file. quote: That would be nice -- as you might have seen in another post, I am quite confused as to what happens there. I had a mage that I switched to a bishop at level 18. Although I thought the spread sheet said he could learn some level 2 spells after pumping up his psionic score, he cannot learn them. Is there a way to enter the info into the spread sheet so that I get an accurate list? Is there any place in the manual that explains how all of this works? How many level-ups do I need before my new bishop will be able to learn spells of level 2, 3, 4, etc.?

quote: I just saw your response to this question in another thread. Thanks. But, I say again, is there any place in the manual where they say any of this?

Dale,
Sadly, no, there is no explanation in the manual, as it is, the only reason why we were able to work how spell learning was done, is because one of the lead programming staff from STC at the time posted details (refer to http://wiz8.web1000.com/perko.html for a copy). I've got a couple of theories on how profession-changed characters and spell learning is done (included in that other message you mentioned), but so far I've had very little expressions of interest to include it into the spreadsheet. Either the message isn't getting though (had to move web sites) or people aren't interested anymore (ie, they've finished playing and moved on to another game).

Just so anyone else reading this understands, below is quoted from the other posting Dale and I are talking about.

Gimli - it's a great picture, but there's a little problem with it size-wise. You might want to check out the regs on image dimensions. [ 02-27-2002: Message edited by: Jem ]
