I'm trying to create a new party without all mistakes I made with my first one.
I’d like to know which classes or traits allow to use a second-hand weapon and which weapons can be used this way.
I would also appreciate any other tips about creating the party.

I’m going to go with the party of 6:
Gourk warrior ...-> ninja,
Human warrior ...-> assassin,
Whiska priest ...-> valkyrie,
Pixie priest ...-> samurai,
Omphanz mage ...-> zenmaster,
Elf mage ...-> warlock

I’m not using a rogue because I don’t like the idea of waiting till Ishad N’ha to join the Guild. My both warriors will become barbarians ASAP, so I think I won’t miss the lockpicks skill.

Hi GRomi,

First of all, and you probably know this, don't limit your characters to only one class after the first one. For exemple, don't plan on a wizard to go straight to Zenmaster. It's a good idea to make him go through Warlock, monk, Samourai, Bard, Ninja... before you get to Zen.

Second, to use a second weapon effectively, you need 4 things:

Double Strike (trait): available at Fighters Guild I think.
Second Weapon (skill): same, after Double strike is acquired
a second hand weapon that is placed in the left hand of your character (Main Gauche, Washiki, Tanto...)
Appropriate weapon skill for the above weapon.

The higher your Second Weapon and weapon skills are, the bigger damage you will inflict in one round of attack.

For more tips on how to create a party, check out the Best Tips tread... It's got a lot of information. Keep in mind that having a God-like character really brings down the fun value of the game.

Hope this helps and keep us posted on your adventures.

GRomi, all the classes can use two weapons, provided they

1- are members of the Warriors' Guild (easily done by guild-hopping),,
2- at guild-lvl 4 (after the Ghost of Gliebott quest) buy the DoubleStrike trait, so the Second Weapon skill becomes available,
3- continue training that skill.

At first, until about lvl 4 in that skill you'll rarely see them using their second weapon. If you buy enough levels, they're killing machines. Note that most decent secondary weapons are daggers, the wakizashi +1 being one of the exceptions. I've blessed my second weapons up to damage 41; they're mostly Main Gauches +2, and have a max damage of 13 when you find them.

As Ryanamur said, it's much better to class-change more often. Assassin becomes available when you're about half-way through the game, Zenmaster and Valkyrie about an hour or two before you face Cet (however, it's up to you to give them some training before you return to the Pyramid). You get more skills, spellpoints, hitpoints that way, and it's much more satisfactory to have a wide range of skills/spells instead of having to search frantically for the one char who's supposed to have Breath of Air. Don't get me wrong, certain skills should only be trained by one char, like Forge, Blessing/Enchant, Disarm, Pickpocket, Scout, Artifact, but if you specialize, it's advisable to train to a high lvl. If you're into blessing your weapons up to the maximum, you need a Forge specialist with skill 12; the Blacksmith wanted to charge me 177,000 gold to repair my fully blessed Wizard's Blade.

I hope this helps. Happy adventuring!

Also, GRomi, you can check here: http://www.volberding.com/WHints/index.html to see if there is any help there for your planning.
