the chessboard in the prison area

My brother is playing this right now (as we speak..er..type, whatever) and asked me what he was supposed to do with the giant chessboard in the sewers of the prison dristrict, the one you get to through that woman's house on the way to the prison. I'm in chapter 3 and completely forget what, if anything, I did with it so...help?

You can walk over it and find some traps and a couple of monsters. Basically, there's nothing special to do with the thing.

There are a couple of magic items lying around plus the monster's remains can be sold.

The chessboard area actually provides an alternate route into the prison and aside from some very small xp and the items mentioned above, there is not much there. If you skipped it, you wouldn't miss a lot.

pretty much it, the chess pieces don't seem to be moveable. The enhanced weapon I found there however could be of some use to ranger, half orc and other fighter types. It was a two bladed spear +1. Of course the weapon foun by the body may change between adventures. I play sorcerers so it is of no use to my character other then gold at the temple.

Well, if you read Harry Potter you would know that there is a part in the first book where Harry, Ron and Hermione are transfigurated in chess pieces, and need to win the chess match in order to go through. [img]smile.gif[/img] I think that's what Wellard's talking 'bout.

personally I think it was an attempt to showcase parts of the toolset, it has been said before that one of the main reasons for the main campaign is to show what can be done with the toolset before cutting you loose to do it, that tileset is alot of fun, and it can help if you want to set up an elaborate trap sequence in a mod you make yourself.
