I was wondering, how powerful does monks get when they lvl up. I started one, but stoped playing him shortly after. It looks so damn stupid when he starts kicking like Karate Kid. Does he ever stop doing that, or will he try to kick Firkraag to his knees??

Yes he will try to kick firkraag to his knees but the monk gets very powerful... and even more powerful with ToB so it can be worth the annoying kicks.

When Monks get to higher levels they are amazing, ok the animation isnt great but the elf avatars arnt great either, we just have to stick with them.

A maxed out monk will take on damn near anything - beholders, demons, mindflayers, anything - and win easily.

The graphics arent so good though, but I can put up with them. If the kicking really bugs you you could use Shadowkeeper to give yourself a non-monk avatar - that way youll just get the normal unarmed attack animations, which arent great themselves, but the only other alternative is to create your own (good luck).

The paperdoll is another graphical atrocity that many want to get rid of - and indeed overriding it is simple. Unfortunatly no current method exists of creating a replacement (Im working on this particular problem at the moment), so youd have to use another BG2 paperdoll.
