SPAM

. Just that one word can instill fear, excitement, anger, laughter or even hatred in someone. In every discussion forum, on every topic (including sea angling forums- believe me ) it appears. Sometimes, there are rare, isolated outbreaks of this contagious and potentially devastating condition. However, sometimes these are more than isolated incidents. Such was the case on a Quake 3 board, where a thread was found to have over 700 replies, the spam-song background music, and lines and lines of animated spam. Even today, even in civilised areas that were thought safe, this disease has permeated and infiltrated until even the wisest and highest members of society have been infected (recently a covert operative found many tablets belonging to Elminster covered in largely useless and pointless jargon).

Although this diseas usually runs its course in a matter of days or weeks there have been known cases of sustained infection. This has been known to cause many debilitating effects on the 'spammer'. Some common symptoms are fatigue, lack of concentration, being distanced from the real world, neglecting family and friends, irritability, aggressiveness and in rare cases seemingly irrational bursts of hysterical laughter while trawling through pages of spam.

Please be warned not to partici[ate in this activity, or condone anyone else participating. It is harmful, and if not checked could become a serious habit. Many users have been found to be continously infected (some might say addicted) to this behaviour, this is usually shown by an immense amount of posts (+300) in less than a week (reg. Mar 2001). Please be warned. Thank you.

Patriarch: Hey, is your signature from Diablo2?

I don't mind the spam, but it does tend to mean that a lot of threads are quite hard to follow...
