I did this last night so my memory was a bit sketchy. I just tried it again, and, basically, when you attack him he says something along the lines of "More hunters?! Not again!!" and then he gets zapped. I suppose this doesn't really imply that he's Bhaalspawn; however, since he actually recognises the protagonist as one if he sees him first and one of your conversation options is to imply that he might be hunting you, it's a reasonable assumption.
