I strictly followed the full editor in creating and equiping characters in BG, and the will not swing any equipped weapons. They will however use fists and all missle and bow weapons. This happens weather or not it is a single, dual classed or multi player. The problem DOES NOT manifest on game characters.

Your character's script is probably wrong then. go to the profile screen ( the one with the face facing sideways ) and click on customize. Click script and choose a script for that character.
